The Final Investigation was a 39-minute behind-the-scenes documentary created to capture the making of the finale and, more importantly, highlight the importance of Buzzfeed Unsolved to its fans crew, and creators.
Having worked as a camera operator for the Unsolved show for several years I knew exactly how big an impact the show had had on the lives of the fans. After five years and 14 seasons, many of the audience had started it in high school and were now in college, or started in college and now had families of their own.
When the show was finally ending I was working as a resident Producer / Director for the Buzzfeed Unsolved Network, and I felt that letting its flagship series end without circumstance would be a huge mistake.
We pitched a long-form documentary that would send myself and a producer along with crew for the finale episode, to capture never before seen making-of content and interviews.
The documentary has a currently lifetime viewership of 1.7M views and is rated 8.7 on imdb
